Instructions
for registering a new Domain Name using the E-Mail
Template
The
registration template is located under the URL:
http://www.nic.ro/domain-template.txt
I.
This registration template can be submitted to RomNIC for
Registering a New Domain Name.
II.
The registration template must be submitted for
acceptance to RomNIC via Email at:
"HOSTMASTER@NIC.RO" - the subject of the mail MUST
start with "NEW DOMAIN".
III.
Upon receipt of the registration template, RomNIC will
acknowledge receipt by Email. The Email will include a
tracking number. The tracking number has the following
format: [RomNIC-YYMMDD.####], where YYMMDD
represent the year, month, and date that the
acknowledgement is sent, and #### is the unique number
assigned to your particular request.
Use
the tracking number in the Subject of any Email you send
regarding that particular registration template.
IV.
Upon initial acceptance and processing of the
Registration template, RomNIC will send an Email notice
that the domain name registration is completed. The
Domain Name is already in the DNS and usable, when this
Email is sent out.
V.
Do not modify the registration template or remove the
registration template version number.
VI.
Before completing the registration template, check to see
if the domain name has already been registered. This will
minimize the possibility of your registration template
being returned.
VII.
RomNIC provides this template also in HTML format. Those
without web access, or with a preference for single page
forms, can use the form and send it to
"HOSTMASTER@NIC.RO". For people who like user
friendly forms, a step-by-step web interface to the
template has been developed. It is used for 99% of all
requests. It also allows to pay for domain name
immediately upon registration via our secure online
payment system. Paying immediately is rewarded with a
discount. The URL for the step-by-step form is:

REGISTERING
A NEW DOMAIN NAME
Section
1 - Complete Domain Name
Sections
3, 4 & 5 - Other Contacts
- The
Administrative Contact/Agent is the person or
organization authorized by the domain name Registrant
to act on behalf of the legal entity listed in Item
2e. The Administrative Contact/Agent should be able to
answer non-technical questions about the legal
entity's plans for using the domain name and the
procedures for establishing sub-domains.
- Generally,
the Technical Contact is the person or organization
who maintains the domain name Registrant's primary
name server, resolver software, and database files.
The Technical Contact person keeps the name server
running and interacts with technical people in other
domains to solve problems that affect the domain name.
An ISP often performs this role.
- The
Billing Contact will be invoiced for registrations and
renewals.
- In
case two contacts are identical, just enter e.g.
"tech" (without the quotes) in field 6a., if the
Billing Contact is identical to Technical Contact.
Enter "owner" (without the quotes) in field 3a., if
the Administrative Contact is identical to the
Organization that is using Domain Name (Owner
Contact).
- If
the contact has never been registered or the handle is
unknown, leave Item "b" (NIC Handle) blank. The
registration software will check for matches with
existing contact records. If a contact record is found
in the database that matches the information on the
registration template in a significant way (name,
organization, phone, Email Address), the database
information will override the information you supply
in the registration template. (A contact record cannot
be updated by using the registration
template.)
- Each
contact in RomNIC's database is assigned a "handle" -
a unique tag to differentiate him/her from all other
contacts in the database. Only one handle should exist
for each Individual or Role. If the contact handle is
already in the database, insert it in Item "b" and
leave the rest of the section blank. If the contact
handle is inserted and additional information is also
provided, only the contact handle will be used. Any
additional information will be ignored. Use contact
handles whenever possible.
- Item
c - indicate the type of contact you are registering.
If the contact is a person, insert "I" for
"Individual". If it is a group or an organization
where several individuals may be acting in that role,
insert "R" for "Role".
- Item
d - place the name of the Individual or Role being
registered. For Individuals, supply the full name
(last, first and middle initial). Do not use titles.
For Role contacts, provide the full name, for example,
"Customer Service Support Center".
- Item
f - Street Address.
- Multiple
entries in Items j and k must be separated by a
comma.
- For
each contact, if a NIC handle is not entered in b,
Items c, d, e, f, g, i, j, k and m must be completed.
templates that do not have this information will be
returned.
Sections
6 & 7 - Name Servers
- If
the name servers has never been registered or the
handle is unknown, leave Item "a" (CORE Handle) blank.
The registration software will check for matches with
existing name servers records.
- Items
b and c must be completed in full if no CORE Handle
for the name servers is provided.
- If
all items a and b and c are left empty the template
will be processed and the domain name will be set to
status "reserved". Name servers can be added any time
to activate and use the domain name.
- Most
ISP's can provide name servers if you do not have your
own. Do not list name servers without the explicit
approval of their owners. The owners of the servers
listed must configure the servers before your domain
name will function.
- If
possible, name servers should be in physically
separate locations and on different
networks.
- Provide
the fully-qualified name of the machine that is to be
the name server. For example, use
"machinename.domainname.tld" not just
"machinename."
- Do
not use nameserver addresses within the domain name
you are just registering. Templates that use such
information will be returned.
- If
several secondary servers are desired, copy and
complete Section 8 as many times as necessary. Do not
renumber or change the copied section.
- A
new domain name registration template will not change
either the hostname (i.e., the name of the name
server), the netaddress (i.e., the IP number) or the
handle of a name server registered in the
database.
Section
8 - Registration Term
- Choose
the desired Registration Term. Possible Registration
Terms are 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 years. Enter only the
number of the years - do not put "years", "YRS" or
similar. If left blank, the default registration will
be for 2 years.
